Who is the third who walks always beside you?
When I count, there are only you and I together
But when I look ahead up the white road
There is always another one walking beside you.

T.S. Eliot, The Waste Land

* * * * *

I see the face of a woman. Her eyes are average sized, dark lashed, dark at the outskirts of the iris; the eyebrows arch unplucked. The nose is good but has a flaw. The planes of the face are regular and inclined towards wideness, with high-boned cheeks. The tanned complexion is exceptional. The lips are nearly full and clearly drawn; they are sharp at the corners; the deep-grooved upper lip is downy with blonde hairs. A smile draws up the slight extension of the septum between the even nostrils; I see a wrinkled nose, dimples, crowsfeet, smile lines. The woman's teeth are very white and straight. Her hair is brown and fairly short. Her jaw is strong, near jutting, square against the neck. Her ears are average in size, hard whorled, red along their narrow edges; and on the earlobes are stud earrings: one on the left, two on the right.
